Multicultural Disaster Risk Reduction Treasure Hunt and Workshop was held (Sato, Gerster, Ishikawa, Takahashi, Igari, Saito)
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the 4th multicultural disaster risk reduction treasure hunt and workshop was held at the Tohoku University Katahira campus and Katahira area.
Several members of the Uehiro Disaster Risk Reduction Division were involved in the operation. A total of 49 participants from 17 countries took part, including Foreign Resident Disaster Prevention Leaders, language volunteers affiliated with the Sendai Tourism, Conversation and International Association (SenTIA).
Survey participants commented that the treasure hunt “helps us to identify places [useful during disasters], like disaster response vending machine, and refuge areas” and that they were glad to see emergency shelters in person.
